Thanksgiving 2011

I went to Dallin's school and ate Thanksgiving lunch with him.   It was actually pretty good for cafeteria food and it brought back so many memories of my mom coming to have lunch with me on Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving is always a great time to reflect on our many blessings, and my sister wrote me the most special card about why she was grateful for me.  It was one of the best cards I've ever received and a reminder to me to give thanks in abundance and to express it to people individually.

Instead of preparing a traditional Thanksgiving meal at home, we went and ate at the Hyatt.  It was my sister Polly's idea, who said we shouldn't spend all day slaving in the kitchen and cleaning up.  She said "Lets go stuff ourselves at this fabulous Thanksgiving buffet and go and watch a movie."  We were easily convinced and it turned out to be an awesome Thanksgiving.   In addition to the Thanksgiving specials we ate crab, shrimp, red pork, and salmon and there were also a variety of the most delicious desserts I had ever tasted.  Plus our meal was 50% off because Polly is an employee at the Hyatt!

Maddie ate on Papa's lap and eventually conked out.

The day after Thanksgiving we went up to our family cabin and cut down a tree.  We always have a fire and lunch in the outdoors and this year was pretty cool because the snow was such that we could cut it in big slabs with a saw and build a fort.  The kids and some of the older guys too assembled their teams and a snowball fight broke out.

The kids have never had so much fun!!

We did some sledding too.

And...we got a pretty good photo of us all thanks to Aunt Erin.
